Mark Hindsbo, VP, US Platform Developer Evangelism at Microsoft, makes the case for why he believes developing Windows 8 apps represents the largest opportunity for today’s app developers.

He made reference of course to the recent statement by Microsoft exec Steven Guggenheimer that the company has sold 600 million Windows 7 license sales so far – 50% more than the 400 million licenses Microsoft said it had sold just last July.

Hmmm, I wonder if “licenses” translate into desktop use?  Not really, but that’s a subject for another day.

Hindsbo’s main drift is that the app is the core of Windows 8 and there is tremendous opportunity for developers in this space.  The Windows Store now offers a reported 150,000 apps.  Enjoy the interesting presentation.
