Budget Surface Tablet

Next Surface Tablet May Launch This Week

Music to my ears! Though this upcoming Surface tablet may not the most exciting of things, keeping in mind the fact that the Surface lineup is known for innovation and new for factors, it’s still energizing.

That’s because this is an affordable model that Microsoft hopes will allow it to make a move in the education sector and compete with the Apple iPad line of hardware.

Its no Surface Andromeda, but it’s Surface alright.

Anyway, rumors about this device have been coming hard and fast. We have seen it make a number of pitstops along the way — including a showing at the FCC to go with more recent intelligence that the device will reportedly make use of Pentium chips.

Now, though, there is news that it may launch this week.

As early as tomorrow, in fact.

A stir was caused via a post on the Surface sub over at Reddit revealing that Microsoft had picked July 13 as the launch date of the new Surface model. Which basically means that this new device will be revealed soon and become available for purchase by this Friday — complete with a Type Cover.

Rumor Surface Tablet

Right after, the official Surface Twitter account got in on the action, teasing an upcoming announcement.

The statement is meaningful, in the sense that there have been rumors that the device will be called Surface Go. This line above could very well be another hint.

In any case, tomorrow looks to be an exciting day for fans of the Surface lineup, and Microsoft could have an announcement in store for us.

As for the specifications, this more affordable Surface is said to come with a 10-inch display with a resolution of 1800 x 1200. RAM options range from 4GB to 8GB, while storage is expected to be 64GB for the base level and 128GB for the higher tier.

The new Surface reportedly weighs 562 grams and it features support for USB-C, microSD and LTE, and will launch with special keyboard and mice, along with other accessories.

Pricing will begin at $399 for education customers, while the top configuration would cost $829.

Bring on tomorrow!
