It’s official, folks. Last week, a blocking bug ruined the launch plans of a new Windows 10 Insider Preview build, and now there is news that another show-stopping bug has been discovered.
Which in simpler terms, means that there will be no new build this week.
Monday, it is.
Windows Insider Program chief Dona Sarkar provided some details in a tweet earlier today, saying that the team had hit a rollback bug with their build candidate. But there was still some hope that a build may storm out the gates before the week was out.
Now, though, she has confirmed that the problems are too impactful for the team to flight a new version of the preview this week.
Even if we do get a new preview sometimes after Monday, it would have been almost three weeks since the last PC build rolled out for users in the Fast ring of the program. Which, of course, was build 16257, though Windows 10 Mobile users were also treated to a new version, build 15240 recently.
In response to an enquiry about the mobile build, Dona said that they generally try and flight PC and phone builds together to make it easier on their flighting and feedback systems.
Meaning, a new version of the preview for smartphones is not too far off, either, even if it will not be released before the weekend.
Slow news week.
