Nokia Lumia 1520 Set To Get A 3400 mAh Battery

The Finnish telecom titan is all set to announce its first ever phablet, the large screen Windows Phone 8 smartphone that reportedly goes by the name of Lumia 1520.

And these past few weeks have provided us with a whole bunch of information on the anticipated handset — everything from its rumored codename, to its software version, camera capabilities and everything in between.

Now it appears that the engineers over in Finland have also packed a pretty hefty battery.

WPCentral is reporting, citing unnamed sources, that the 1520 will pack a 3400 mAh battery inside, which essentially makes it the largest battery by far of any device in the Lumia family. Then again, this is not surprising when you consider the full HD screen it has to power.

The Lumia 1520 is said to sport a 6-inch display – by comparison the recently unveiled Samsung Galaxy Note 3 with its 5.7-inch screen is housing a 3200 mAh battery.

Additionally, the report also claims that the Lumia 1520 will have four microphones in order to ensure maximum quality when the device is being used as a phone.

The above source describes the handset as really thin, but with some weight to it — which is just the way it should be. Sure, it comes down to personal preference, but ultra-light and featherweight smartphones often come with their own set of problems.

Sounds like the Lumia 1520 will be an impressive phone. But it won’t matter if its only available on AT&T. Failure to understand the importance of carrier choice is another area where Microsoft still doesn’t quite get the mobile consumer market.
