The recently released Amber update, based on Windows Phone 8 GDR2, took its sweet time to arrive, but it will soon be overtaken by the next update to Microsoft’s mobile platform, GDR3.
Windows Phone 8 GDR3 is set to bring about a wider array of changes on the hardware side — including support for quad-core processors and 1080p display resolutions. But GDR2 actually nails it on the software side of things, even if its list of new additions is not a terribly long one.
But Nokia’s exclusive Amber update includes a bucket load of custom enhancements.
The Finnish telecommunications titan officially announced the availability of this new software update for owners of Lumia smartphones, and now the company has released a nice little video ad to highlight several of its new features.
The video can be seen below in all its glory:
This particular clip primarily focuses on the camera enhancements that the Amber update brings to devices, and provides a good look for smartphone owners still waiting the update notification.
As Nokia notes in the video description:
“The Lumia Amber software update is here! Enjoy even better camera performance, plus support for Nokia Smart Camera, the handy Nokia Glance Screen feature and much more.”
Nokia has already announced that the new firmware release will become available worldwide for all Windows Phone 8 Lumia devices out in the wild. Lumia 920 and Lumia 820 smartphones in select markets are among the first to get this new firmware upgrade — other devices should soon follow.
