You could be forgiven for thinking you have heard this before. Nokia tablets have been the subject of several rumors over the past few months, after all. But a new one was spotted just now online.

And interestingly, this could be our closest indication yet that the Finnish mobile phone giant is planning and testing its entry into the tablet market. Nokia itself has admitted that it is evaluating all options and plans to release its own tablet PCs — supposedly powered by Microsoft’s Windows 8 platform.

The proof is always in the pudding, as they say, and these new technical specifications that have just emerged online shed light on what the company is cooking.

A certain device that goes by the name of Nokia RX-114 has made it to the GFX Bench website.

It is said to feature a 1371 by 771 pixels screen, which is close enough to the 1366 by 768 pixels display standard on Surface RT. In other words, this is an indication that it could indeed be a tablet running the Windows RT operating system.

But this is not the fascinating bit — as WMPowerUser notes the slate comes with a Qualcomm ARM processor paired with an Adreno 330 GPU. This is a popular combination for the quad-core Snapdragon 800 CPU that is set to power several mobile devices later this year.

This is, obviously, not the first time Nokia is said to be working on such a device. But either way, the company will very likely make official its plans soon, probably around the time Windows 8.1 hits general availability. The Windows tablet market will be in its second real season by then.

I’ve so been waiting for this! If I can’t have a Surface Pro (too expensive at the moment for my budget), then the next best thing for me is a Nokia tablet. I hope they’ll make some marked improvements over the business-as-usual offerings out there today, with the new Gorilla Glass 3 included.

I can’t wait to hear more.

They just new to make a good device with the same camera as their new phone with the updated version of Windows RT, and it will be a good product. As long as the features match what is out there and beats them on price, this will be a big success for them.
