The party is showing no signs of slowing down for Windows Phone 8 owners. Several high profile apps have been confirmed to be in development for Microsoft’s mobile platform.

Now you can add another to the list — ooVoo, the popular video chat and messaging service.

Owners of Windows Phone 8 handsets will soon be able to enjoy this appealing service via an official app on their devices. The company has just recently confirmed its plans of developing such an application for Windows Phone 8, though no specific information on release date has been provided.

A company employee, responding to a user inquiry on Windows Phone 8 support, posted on the official ooVoo forums that:

“We will be developing an application for Windows Phone 8. I am unable to provide you with the time schedule regarding when it will be released. Stay tuned.”

Stay tuned we will be, this much is a given.

As noted above, the company has not provided any further details on what exactly the mobile client will offer to Windows Phone 8 users. But WPCentral expects that the app will bring sharing and instant messaging capabilities along with video chatting, of course.

But this much is certain that large developers and popular companies are finally starting to take notice of the Windows Phone 8 platform. It is only a matter of time before everyone joins the party.

It’s good for all of us to have a strong 3rd competitor. With more apps coming to Windows phone, more carriers expanding their lineups, and other vendors other than Nokia releasing new devices soon; that is exactly what we will be getting.
