So I wanted to share some early open box pictures of the Surface Pro 2 tablet with you.

I got the device with the light blue type cover and I have to say it feels and looks great. In addition, the processor is frikkin quick so that’s good to see.

I’ll do a thorough review in a couple of days after I have had a chance to take it for a test run in the real world.

Last year I did a review of the first generation Surface and put it through it’s paces a bit. I took the tablet to the BUILD conference and had a chance to use it on a plane etc..

I don’t think this unit will get that much of a workout but I can already say that Windows 8.1 is much (MUCH) better on a tablet than on a desktop.

Stay tuned for more.

Anyway, here are some images of the Surface Pro 2 tablet and blue type cover.

P.S. Yes that’s the Surface Tablet next to my 15.4 inch MacBook Pro Retina just for comparison.

    • I think you need to try and see what tablet works for you. I think that this works with a docking station to get real work done but there are still a bunch of drawbacks.

Wait for my review in a few days….

      • Now that’s how you give people a product recommendation. You tell them to get what works for them but you basically give them an account of your experience. No one does that on blogs anymore. The give too much advice based on personal preference.

I don’t think anyone can give a valid recommendation after having the Surface Pro 2 for less than 12 hours. Also, the product that is best depends upon your intended use — are you looking for a laptop/desktop replacement or are you looking for an iPad replacement.

You are doing a good job Onuora!

          • Thanks Charles!

          • Unfortunately, that’s what other reviewers and commenter’s on different websites do. They’ll spend an entire year giving reviews and recommendations based on their “first look” experience. Half the time they don’t play with it a long time. They don’t go back and update or give new reviews when software/firmware updates are released or sometimes even if a new batch comes out with modified hardware. All you have do to is read the comments on most blogs and you’ll quickly see that some people should no be making recommendations to anyone. Anyone who would sit down with a product for a couple hours or even a couple days and tell someone not to get a product shouldn’t be recommending products, outside of maybe saying that someone doesn’t have to rush out a replace a product they already have with next year’s version. Most people article writers would not have said “get what works for you” or “give a chance to use and review it.” They probably would have just look at the specs sheet and make a recommendation of that and the previous model.

      • I agree with your first sentence. It makes the 2nd and 3rd sentence unnecessary. There is an ego epidemic amounts bloggers, it seems they can’t merely tell us ‘The way it is’ but insist on telling us ‘their opinion of the way it is’. I think we can
safely deduce that said blogger believes that the majority of their audience is
either incapable of formulating an opinion or that their opinion once
formulated would not be as valid as the blogger. I think that is sad.

Thanks for the article … any danger of the New keyboards scratching the screen on the Surface Pro 2 / Surface 2?
PS I just got the Surface 2 64GB without the keyboard — think it is a Nice high end alternative (with functional split screen multi-tasking) to the iPad. Just need the LTE/GPS option to make the Surface 2 a Better alternative to the iPad.
