Looking for a video streaming solution for your Windows 8 devices? Plex allows you to create a Plex Media Server that will allow you to access content from a wide range of channels and stream your music, videos and photos.
The apps is very flexible when it comes to meeting your streaming needs and only costs $2.99. This has led to strong success for the Windows 8 app. Now something good is getting even better, the popular app is getting its first major update.
So what is all new with the latest version? There is a new UI for the channel store, a universal search function, and even improved functionality for non-touch users which includes special keyboard and mouse shortcuts.
There are also usual update suspects like bug fixes, that includes an issue that was preventing the app from connecting to a server on the same machine as the client software.
Not enough of an update for you? There is also a new experimental MPEG-2 TS transcode format, which Plex says supports remuxing for h264 video. Keep in mind that this is an experimental feature, and so tread carefully with using it.
