It’s raining screenshots! We were treated to the first screenshot of an alleged Windows 9 build a day or so back, and now an image appears to show the new Start Menu.

You can take a look at the Windows 9 build 9788 screen grab here, by the way.

And now a new screenshot has been published on the My Digital Life forums, as noted here, which is reportedly showing the new Start Menu that looks set to return in Windows 9, as opposed to Windows 8.1 Update 2, as was previously rumored.

No guarantees whether this screenshot is fake or genuine, but see for yourself:

The design of the Start Menu, however, clearly matches with what Microsoft showed off at the 2014 edition of its BUILD developer conference. It mixes traditional elements of Windows 7 with some modern touches of Windows 8 like Live Tiles and other such cues.

Right down to the dedicated power options for easier shutting down or rebooting PCs.

People in the know are hinting that this Start Menu has been implemented in build 9788, and the software titan decided to delay this important feature until Windows 9 sees daylight in early 2015.

Meaning, Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 users will not have access to this Start Menu unless they decide to upgrade to the newest version of the operating system.

I really don’t need the start menu, but I guess as long as it has options for recent applications/documents, has links to libraries, and includes Metro components; it’s something I can live with.

I see what you’re saying. I’m in the boat that if it looks good (as these screenshots do to me), I am happy to see the start menu return.

and in windows 9 i think it seems to be like 8.1 but small than it

and i prefer the 8.1 metro than windows 9

I’m excited to see it back without a doubt. I just wish they’d release it for 8.1 in the meantime since it looks so similar anyway.
