Downsizing your company by 18,000 in one stretch does not mean you cannot hire new faces, and Microsoft has just added a high-profile executive from Qualcomm.

Peggy Johnson is a top executive at the chip maker, in fact, the highest ranking female executive within the company — having spent 24 years at Qualcomm. She held the roles of executive vice president and head of global market development at the hardware giant.

And according to this source, Redmond has reached an agreement with her for a high profile role.

When asked to comment, both Microsoft and Qualcomm refused, which usually is the first sign that something is cooking. What exactly is that, and what role will Johnson take up at the software titan remains to be seen.

More importantly, whether her new role is something critical.

Anyway, this is a bit of a win for Microsoft in general and Satya Nadella in particular, as he tries to revamp the company from top to bottom. The reorganization, it appears, is going swell.

Hopefully both companies release a public statement on this in the coming days, shedding more light and details on the matter, as Peggy Johnson completes her move from Qualcomm to Microsoft.
