Skype For Windows Phone Gets Photo Sharing Capabilities

Finally. A refreshed version of the Skype app is now available for download for Windows Phone 8 and Windows Phone 8.1 users, and it brings to the table a most requested feature.

Version 2.21 of the communication app comes with photo sharing abilities.

The Skype team says that their primary focus at the moment is providing Skype users with great photo sharing options, and this new version of the application has been designed specifically for this. And one look at how this feature works is enough to see that it is well put together.

More on that below, but here is the official announcement:

“Right now, building great picture sharing capabilities is high on our list of priorities, and we’re excited to announce the feature will start rolling out to Windows Phone 8.1 and Windows Phone 8 users for the first time with today’s 2.21 update.”

Users will be able to send their photos to contacts, friends and family even when they are offline.

Additionally, they will also be able to send images to more than one contacts, but the recipients will have to be on iOS 5.0 or above on Apple hardware, or Windows Phone 8 and 8.1 on Microsoft’s mobile operating platform.

A few other new enhancements are in tow as well, including the ability to load more conversation history, text markup, and a series of performance improvements.

The updated version of the app is available here on the Windows Phone Store.
