Umm..where the heck is Skype in Windows 8?

On the 10th of May 2011, Microsoft announced that they would be acquiring Skype. The move was widely hailed as strategic and actually had the industry talking about Microsoft’s future dominance in video conferencing.

The Windows 8 Consumer Preview was released on the 29th of February, 2012.

That’s a 9 month gap.

Microsoft have had 9 months to develop a Metro style concept of Skype in Windows 8 and so far we have seen nothing.

Why does it matter?

Well in light of the iPad’s dominance with Facetime, a successful Skype preview would be something that Microsoft could use to differentiate Windows 8 Tablets.

It wouldn’t have to be perfect. It could be rough (like the rest of the apps in the Windows 8 Consumer Preview).

If a bunch of interns could develop apps in Metro for the Windows 8 Developer Preview last summer, then surely….?

Heck, like my cousin said, you don’t even need to show the app, you could show a concept video of what Skype will look like in Windows 8.

It’s just baffling to me.

How about you guys and gals?

What’s your theory on why Skype isn’t ready?

It does feel like that huh?

I think it just hit me after I looked up the acquisition date that there has been no update regarding the status of the software.

I also have many questions, criticizes and some problems with win8 CP BUT…..
I don’t write them on twitter, blogs, Facebook…..
I try too feedback them directly to Microsoft or write them somewhere that know Microsoft will read that….
here is a public site and I think it would be better if you try to encourage people using win8 CP and give them some good news rather that bad ones!
