So I bought a new Macbook Pro a month ago and got a chance to really use it over the past couple of weeks.

The damn thing crashes on me at least 3 or 4 times a day.

I have noticed that it crashes most when I am using the Chrome browser with multiple tabs open and YouTube videos playing.

It’s hard to tell whether it’s because:

  • Chrome for the Mac is buggy
  • The new Macbook line is crappy hardware
  • This OS needs to be upgraded

Not sure and don’t really care at this point.

When you spend that amount of money on hardware, you don’t really want to be dealing with ANY type of crashing or complications.

If the new OS from Apple doesn’t squash this, I’ll have to sell this thing…

Anybody else having Apple Macbook Pro problems?

The problem is with Chrome. It was all over the Internet a few weeks back. Use Firefox 🙂

Since the release of Win 7, From half to full pro end computers I’ve NEVER had win 7 crash. So I think the pointless comparison of Win 7 is sad since… All you did here was list that in the title. I’ll make a blog post “AMD > Intel” and then discuss how great AMD is and say nothing about intel. Same difference I see here. Guess you’re just S.O.L. With your computers.

Must be chrome. Dunno how comparable my experience is to your’s but chrome worked like a charm on my windows 7, till I switched to windows 8’s half-cooked edition. Browsing on chrome causes my laptop to crash- so i am guessing something is messed up with chrome, specially since i have recently had other users complain about this too. Everything else is working almost flawlessly though- specially the internet explorer on windows 8.

Yea I did the Mac thing for a while, switched back to windows just for compatibility reasons. But I never had a single hardware issue with my macbook pro. Must be operator error.

Having a computer crash is NEVER operator error.

my computer only crashes because it is turning 4 and i run sometimes 4 graphic intensive and it is still going because Windows 8 is pretty low key.

Don’t tell that windows 7 crashes. I had my windows 7 since 2010 and it NEVER CRASHED and I had even vista and xp before and they never crash. Don’t ever let in your mind that when you say WINDOWS or PC, it always crashes or a crap. It is how you install the software(OS). MACS have built in OS which you don’t have to install that causes it not to freeze or crash.
Four words that I can say: “NEVER BUY THAT LAPTOP”. It is a crap. Why? because with your 1200-2200 bucks, you can buy a very great damn so cool and extraordinary PC with a very high specs rather than buying that damn Laptop(they call it MAC but it is also a PC(personal computer)). OR you can buy a PC with the EXACT specs in a VERY LOW PRICE. Am I right ONUORA AMOBI?

Come on now. We all understand that this is a Windows centered blog, but that doesn’t mean that we need to say the wrong things about Apple. That notebook is a piece of engineering excellency. You need to consider running more tests before posting such a reaction. For example, if you come up with a device that is imaginary and yet a developer develops a crappy software with crappy code, how would you feel if a lot people blamed YOU for that app’s poor performance? Try running Safari. If that crashes, then its Apple’s fault. And also, Apple hates Adobe Flash. Try an HTML5 YouTube video in Safari.

Hard to say that I criticize Apple. Some would say I am an Apple fan. I must be doing something right…

First, I think your MBP (if that is an image of yours) looks beautiful.

I am sorry you are having problems. On my Mac Mini (with ML OS X) Chrome crashed so much I finally removed it. I liked Chrome but think it is very unstable. Even in Windows 8, desktop Chrome crashes and hangs a lot whereas IE 10 and FireFox run very well.

I think Chrome has potential, but right now is so very immature and seemingly in a wildly changing gestation period of early growth.

While I prefer Windows 8, I think OS X looks nice. It seems to have problems Windows used to have many years ago. That said, I do like it. I hope it catches up to Windows. (Obviously this is a personal opinion. Simple things like cut/paste feel so very clunky on a Mac, but effortless in Windows 8)

I hope you resolve the issues you are experiencing. They are never fun.
