There are comic book characters, and then there’s Archie. The beloved chap and his gang of friends like Betty, Veronica, Jughead and others have captivated hearts for decades.

And now they are here to captivate screens, in the form of Archie Riverdale Rescue.

This is a simulation game that requires players to rescue and rebuild Riverdale. Essentially a city building title, it has enough side games, special events and unlockable content to keep you occupied for quite some time. The developers have really gone all out in terms of extra content.

Here is the official description:

“Archie and his pals need YOU to help rescue Riverdale! Play as Betty, Veronica, Jughead, Reggie and dozens of favorite classic comic-book characters. Personalize, decorate, make Riverdale your own – while creating new relationships and completing fun quests and interesting tasks.

Loaded with original artwork and comic content you can’t find anywhere else – the whole family is sure to love this fun-filled city building sim. Help save Riverdale while helping yourself to heaps of Fun! Oh and of course, don’t forget – you get to help Archie choose: Betty or Veronica.”

Sometimes choosing is the most difficult of tasks!

The presentation of this game is top notch. And authentic. All the characters are true to how they appear in comic books, and for fans it is quite a joy to discover them as they rebuild Riverdale. The free game also comes with promises of ongoing updates and special events from the developers.

Although optimized for touch, the game is equally enjoyable when played with keyboard and mouse. All versions of Windows 8.1 are supported, including Windows RT 8.1.

  1. This will be extremely popular among the older generation that grew up with Archie! Nice PR move from the company. Older people will discover this and thank Microsoft for it.

    • I agree, but I wonder how big that market is. I would guess there aren’t many archie fans downloading games. Maybe a waste.

      • I hate to agree with you, but I do. This doesn’t seem to be targeting a good demographic. It’s just an app, so not a huge deal, but I think there are other characters to focus on that a younger generation would love.

  2. I like this. I didn’t grow up with Archie, but basing a game off a cartoon character is not a new concept. I think this will be pretty popular.
