This past week has been really great for the Windows Store, when it comes to games, and no wonder, we have another interesting title. CanyonCapers is another old style platform title.

With a lot of modern polish.

This retro jump and run games gives you 50 levels that you need to complete. You can only exit if you complete the given tasks in each level, and most of these involve collecting all the gems that are scattered around, or opening the treasure chests that you find.

The official description:

“Starring Dino-Jr and his many friends as they venture through the canyons and caverns of ancient ruins in historical locations, to reach the ultimate goal, retrieval of the Golden Mollusk, source of all universal power.

With a finely tuned difficulty curve, from nice and easy, all the way to rock hard, just like old school platforming used to be. Canyon Capers will make you rely on your wits, your memory and at times, seat of the pants twitch gaming.”

This premium game has a lot of things going for it — from detailed visuals to simple controls, and multiple ways to complete each level. You also battle creatures like snakes and vultures along the way, encounter traps and there is a time limit as well.

Not to mention a whole lot of secrets and collectibles to keep things interesting.

Although CanyonCapers retails for $4.99, a free trial is available for you to test this game out and see if you like it. Sadly, the game is not available for the Windows RT platform, as currently it only supports processors based on x86 and x64 architecture. Oh well. Happens.
