Adventure game have the distinction of being the most artsy of all video game genres. Whether they are simple point-and-click (or tap, now) adventures or elaborate third-person titles, the art and graphic design is usually top notch.
This, again, is the case with Escape the Lost Kingdom, an adventure and puzzle game with a rich visual style and even lusher atmosphere.
Like all good adventures, this one begins with an unassuming visit — this time to an Egyptian museum that leads to a discovery of a long forgotten Pharaoh tomb. Now, where have I heard this before?
The official description, for you adventure seekers:
“A young family is invited to visit the newly opened museum in Egypt; while touring the museum they discover the long forgotten tomb of a cursed Pharaoh named Raned. After being separated you now have to play as each character. Help the family reunite, escape this long-lost Egyptian kingdom and discover the story behind the fascinating tomb and treasures that are buried within.”
Long story short, the family is split apart, and it is up to you to reunite them. You do this by solving puzzles and finding treasures along the way over multiple scenes and mini games.
As mentioned above, the two highlights of this free to download game are the detailed 2D visual and mystifying puzzles — the story is just an excuse for the gameplay. It also supports all flavors of the modern Windows, including Windows 8.1 and Windows RT 8.1.
