If I were a betting man, I’d wager heavily on the fact that LL Cool J loves Windows 8.1. And that is because the man (or rather his company Boomdizzle) launched a brand new app on the Windows Store.

This Windows exclusive app, called Liquid MyConnect Studio, allows users to create music right within the Modern UI of both the desktops and tablets powered by the operating system. And while it might not be as feature-rich as some other paid solutions, yet, you can’t beat the price of free.

Still what the app offers is rather impressive. It comes with tools to record vocals, basic editing features, Skype integration, Facebook sharing, SoundCloud support, you can even upload MP3 and WAV files.

Here is the official description, in full:

“Be the next pioneer in Music! Liquid MyConnect Studio is a patented collaborative virtual studio that allows two users to connect, record, remix, and edit music together in REAL-TIME, and share their originally created music over the Internet from anywhere in the world.

Import songs, tracks, or stems from SoundCloud, your computer, or any other music editing tool into MyConnect Studio and collaborate with other musicians with built in Skype Integration. Supports touch control and easily post your song onto Facebook.”

This free app might need some polish when it comes to the user interface design, this virtual music studio has everything you need to record, remix and edit music together with a friend in real time.

Occasional hiccups aside (trouble logging in via Skype), this is pretty neat addition to the Windows Store, and it will be interesting to see where it goes from here. Available for all versions of the operating system, including ARM.

  1. Extremely resourceful app. I’m not a music maker, but it’s amazing what kind of technology we can get on these apps nowadays.
