For an operating system built with productivity in mind, the Windows Store was quickly filled with basic productivity apps soon after release of Windows 8. However, not many are better in terms of design than Make Note.

Remarkably well designed for an app that flies in under 0.3MB, this free note taking application lets you create notes or lists of items you want, and you can then view or share them with friends and contacts using the built-in sharing options.

The official description:

“Make Note, a simpler way to keep track of your to-do’s and post-its. It allows you to categorize your notes and lists with different colour schemes. Moreover, it can set reminders to ensure that you are on top of your game.”

Once created, notes and lists are displayed horizontally as scrolling items on the screen.

The focus is clearly on creating a list of things to do, and setting reminders for important matters with minimal fuss, as the app is low on other useful features that are part of other applications in this category. Still it is worth a look if you want a simple app with a minimalistic interface.

This free app supports Windows 8.1 on all processors, including x86, x64 and ARM, and the undeniably modern interface making it a delight to use on tablets and touch devices.
