One of the more anticipated arrivals on the Windows Store recently, Mega Run looks like just another endless running game. Play it, though, and you will find that it offers a whole lot more.

Behind the cartoony graphics and colorful visuals is dynamic gameplay — you can only tap on the screen to jump while playing. Tap longer for higher jumps, or do double jumps as well. Now add in the enemies that you can either jump on, or avoid altogether, and you have got the makings of a really fun game.

The official description:

“Redford’s brother and sister have been kidnapped by a mysterious monster and taken far away! Join Redford on an amazing adventure across multiple worlds and dozens of challenging stages. Find Redford’s lost family and discover new worlds to explore by following the trail of stolen coins and Forest Gems!

Mega Run – Redford’s Adventure is an epic platform game complete with an incredible cast of characters, fantastical landscapes to explore, and stacks of explosive powerups!”

They got this final part right — the game is an absolute joy to look at and play.

One big highlight is the sheer variety in the level design. Although reaching the level exit is the primary task, you can take up different paths to reach your destination. Several power ups are available that you can pick up for extra strength, even invincibility.

This free game controls well with both a touch screen or the standard mouse and keyboard combination, and is available for all modern versions of Windows, x86, x64 and ARM. It retails for $1.99, though a free trial version is also available that you can download.
