If there’s one thing you can be sure of with big name game developers, it is attention to quality. Gameloft just launched Pastry Paradise on the Windows Store, a vibrant match-three puzzle.

And this well done game introduces a fresh new element.

Basically, you are not limited to swapping elements vertically or horizontally — here you can swap them diagonally. But the new additions just don’t stop here. You are also put up against the computer to swap a certain number or tiles to your color, before your opponent manages to do the same.

The official description:

“In the mood for a yummy match-three puzzle? Join Hannah, the sweetest chef in the land, and stop Mr. Moelleux from filling the world with cheap mud cakes and canned custard!”

Thanks to these two new additions, Pastry Paradise keeps it fresh.

But more importantly, it offers a decent challenge and introduces some strategy into the game, which itself is thoughtfully designed. As for the visuals and presentation, they are top notch, making for a very addictive experience, which, dare I say is better than Candy Crush.

This free app is universal, works on Windows Phone, and supports all modern versions of Windows, from x86 and x64 to ARM. Give it a try if you’re into these type of games.
