Well, here we are with another rumor that claims that we are nearing the public launch of Windows 8.1 Update 2, the second refresh of Microsoft’s flagship operating system.
Even though the company has kept everything under wraps, there is new evidence that this new refresh will go live next month — August 12. This new evidence is in the form of some leaked documents that have been recently published by a trusty source.
They do not provide any more details, other than the fact that Windows 8.1 Update 2 could be launched alongside other Patch Tuesday updates that are set for arrival next month.
And if you have been on the lookout for some new features, then make room for some disappointment.
It is being said that Redmond is using this new version to only deliver minor improvements and a few good fixes to Windows 8.1. Interestingly, the closer we get to the reported launch date, the more this seems to be true.
Long story short, do not expect the Start Menu or the ability to run Metro apps in their separate windows after deploying this release.
Microsoft is increasing focus on development of Windows 9, and it is showing.
