I recently did a comparison of two different weather apps for Windows 8 Metro, well it turns out there is yet another weather-related app that was included in Windows 8 Consumer Preview.

Honestly this really leaves me wondering who thought it was necessary to have so many weather apps in this Beta, but I digress.

So how does AccuWeather compare to the other two we’ve already looked at? Let’s find out.

One thing I have to applaud all three apps for is the ability to retain their own look and feel.

None of these look or feel exactly the same, sure navigation is somewhat similar since they are all Metro apps, but for the most part there is something different to be had from each of these weather apps.

So what’s the big feature in this app (so far each app has had a different feature that sets it apart). That would be the actually quite-good map (uses bing) and radar that accompanies it.

As you can see in the screen-shot this almost looks like it was taken straight from the television screen, so it is a fairly decent looking map system to say the least.

Looking at all three which is my favorite? It is a close call, and I think it will boil down to just personal preference.

For now though I find myself regularly using Elements, but they all are on a rather equal footing, none really feels more polished or just plain ‘better’ than the other.

My one wish for when Metro does go commercial though is that it doesn’t add another twenty of these weather apps.

I like knowing what the weather might hold as much as the next guy, but how many apps that essentially do the same thing, do we need?
