If you are someone who loves tablets such as the iPad, there are now Windows 8 developer tablets available on eBay – the ONLY Windows 8 tablet in existence. The tablet is a Samsung developer “preview” model, and it is the same model that was unveiled at Microsoft’s BUILD conference last week.

At the conference, Microsoft gave away 5,000 of these tablets to the developers who attended the conference, in hopes to jump start the creation of applications for the platform, and to gain as much attention as possible.

The cool thing about these tablets is that developers will be able to test any and all applications that they have created for touch screen devices before selling them in app stores.

In the days that followed the conference, some of these developers decided that they did not want or need the Windows 8 tablet, so they have placed them on eBay for an auction price or for “But it Now.”

To many tablet lovers this might sound exciting, but the downside is that these tablets are selling for a whopping $3,500! This week there have been at least four of tablets that have sold for over $2,000, but the price is going up. Two of these “buy it now” auctions are offering a “Buy it Now” price of $3,500!

One might be asking how these developers can possibly sell these devices for this amount of money when there are plenty of tablets such as the Blackberry Tablet and iPad that are selling for around $500, but the difference is that the Samsung Windows 8 Developer Preview Tablet is the only Windows 8 tablet in existence!

Not only that, Windows 8 [which is the next released version of the Windows Operating System] is said it be a breakthrough OS from Microsoft, as it is touch screen optimized.

These tablets borrow the Windows Phone operating system, showing off the Metro-style interface and touch-friendly tiles. Not only that, even though the Samsung Developer Windows 8 tablet is tailor-made for tablets, Microsoft  has claimed that it will work well with even a keyboard and mouse. This last factor is truly what will make this tablet stand out from the rest!

The Samsung Windows 8 tablet also boasts a 11.6-inch screen and offers 64 GB of storage, which is a huge deal for individuals who are heavily into movies, gaming or any other activity that will require a lot of story.

Since these tablets have been sold on eBay without the permission of Microsoft, it is unknown whether or not Microsoft will ask eBay to put these auctions to an end. Until then, however, there are still many more tablets going up for auction. If you have thousands of dollars to burn, it would be a good investment. However, the downfall of purchasing one of these tablets is that it does not come with any support – so you will be on your own.

Is it worth it? Or can you wait another year to experience the Windows 8 OS?
