Microsoft are introducing a new feature in Windows 8 called Storage Spaces.

Basically, Windows 8 Storage Spaces allows users to run a mini mirroring solution on their Windows 8 PC.

The solution will allow users to choose 2 way or 3 way mirroring and will work this way:

  • In a 2 drive PC, the second drive is identical to the first so if the first dies, the second is up and running immediately
  • In a 3 drive PC, all three are mirrors of each other so that even if 2 fail, one will still be up and running.

PCBeta have released some preliminary screenshots of this feature from the latest pre-Beta copy of Windows 8. They are displayed below.
